Of course most of us are not always able to follow all steps within these techniques, adding phosphorous etc., is not always affordable. Fortunately chile is a very resilient crop. Also remember the key to making your chile hot is distress. The chile that struggles is the hottest. Once the plant has grown to full size and has flowered I will not water certain rows every other time to create a hotter version of the same strain. The plants will not get quite as full but the chile will become its hottest.
